Here Are the Best Places to Hide Presents This Holiday Season

The holidays are among us! For parents of young (and maybe even older) kids, that means it’s time to find the trusty hiding spots for your presents! Parents know that kids can be nosy, especially around Christmas when they have the idea that presents might be hiding somewhere in the house for them. Having good hiding places for gifts is a necessity to maintain a memorable surprise when the time comes to open presents.

We’ve put together a list of some of the best hiding places for presents. A common theme among some of our recommendations involves the use of camouflage. The use of common household items such as appliance boxes or storage bins can create effective decoys against children looking for presents.

Suitcases

Everyone has a suitcase. As a common household good that lacks appeal to most kids, suitcases can be very effective hiding places for presents, assuming your gift(s) can fit inside!

Appliance Boxes

Like suitcases, the idea here is that most kids (or even adults) don’t think twice when they spot an appliance box. This can present an excellent opportunity for those hiding gifts. Make sure they are placed in such a way to not look suspicious!

Trunk Space

We know this one can be difficult; many drivers need their trunk space. But car trunks are an excellent hiding spot for gifts. The major benefit of using trunk space is that aside from most children overlooking such a mundane location, it is lockable and portable, so that you won’t have to worry about the kids finding their presents while you are away from home. Just make sure your trunk space doesn’t have a clear view!

Underwear Drawer

Who wants to browse through an underwear drawer!? No one, which is why it can be a perfect hiding place for presents. Small presents will work best here.

Storage Bins

Do you have any generic storage bins in your home, garage or basement? As another mundane household item, they can provide good hiding places for gifts. Storage bins can come in all sorts of different sizes, and mis-labeling them can further throw off anyone snooping the house for presents!

Have A Spooky Attic or Basement?

While no one likes seeing their child be afraid, having an attic or basement that your child finds intimidating can provide a great hiding spot for presents. These locations can be even better if they are hard to access (for example, some attics are accessible only through ladders that pull down from the ceiling). Take advantage of these spaces if you have them!

Self-Storage

If you still aren’t feeling confident about any of these hiding locations, then a self-storage unit might be just what you need. What could be better than a locked storage space, away from home with no external view and constant security and monitoring?

Alliston Self Storage has an extremely wide range of units in various sizes. Whether you are looking for something just for the holidays or have been considering a storage unit for other uses, we can help. Our size guide and space calculator can help you determine what size unit you might be looking at for your needs.
